DylanI had been after a good CD of this album for years. I had the album in 1974, lost it, and in the 80’s bought a cassette which still plays great. But I wanted a CD. Although many do not consider this a great album, when I was a teenager learning how to play Dylan songs, this album, along with Planet Waves, Blood on the Tracks, Before the Flood or Desire, was one of my top 5. Beautiful deliveries by Dylan of cover songs, as usual, done his own way. I sincerely don’t understand how this album is underrated. Bought recently a less expensive edition from an European distributor (Called A Fool Such as I, in Europe) which comes with bootleg outtakes, but, the sound quality was extremely poor, uneven, edited terribly, so I returned it. Purchased this edition from this Japanese distributor, considerably more expensive, and, had to pay customs in Spain where I now live another extra 20 bucks to retrieve it. All worth it. This is an impeccable Sony/Columbia (Japanese, of course) re-release. Impeccable sound, packaging. A collector’s item in my book.

An album that seemed to be outtakes from Self Portrait didn’t move the needle when it came out but became a favorite of mine over the yrars. Maybe it was because it was the only Dylan not released on CD maybe it was because it was just different. The Japanese have the right method when it comes to taking 40+ year old analog masters and making them come alive.
