If you have already listened to the original ‘Basement Tapes’ released in 1975, this is an excellent supplement to that without shelling out over $100 for the complete set. Some of the highlights from the two discs include: ‘One Too Many Mornings’ , ‘Santa Fe’ , ‘I Shall Be Released’ , ‘900 Miles From My Home’ and so many more. These songs are so different than anything Dylan had released up to this point (1967) and ever since. Some of the songs sound like they were recorded at the bottom of the ocean, which adds to their indelible wonder in my opinion.

I love Bob Dylan and have most of his stuff with the exception of some of his ’80s releases.I’ve seen him in concert a couple of times.I eagerly await every new release from him nowadays and usually have it delivered on it’s release date.I held off on this one due to the steep price. I ended up settling for the mp3 version a few months later at about half the price. While I was interested in seeing what was in the book I am unwilling to pay that much for it.There are some real gems in this collection. That being said, there are some embarrassments as well; that was to be expected.Overall I’m satisfied with it and recommend it highly to any true Dylan fan.
