Whether you are a long time Dylan fan or a budding listener, this is a terrific album on vinyl. The record is a re-release of the original 2000 compilation. This collection spans 1963 – 1999 and includes songs from nearly a dozen different albums. This is much cheaper than buying each on vinyl if you want only the most popular songs. The other thing I love about this album is listening to the progression in Dylan’s playing style and vocals. It’s amazing to see how his music evolved over the decades. One note: the track listing on Amazon and Wiki are incorrect, this has a unique track listing that does not follow the CD track order. The sleeve has a track listing along with the album each song originated in.

I was looking for some original Dylan classics from the 60’s and 70’s. Bob Dylan was a visionary far ahead of his time. He wrote and sang what he felt, how he viewed society and the world, and his songs echoed reality many Americans did not want or could not face despite the times. This 2 disc CD was exactly what I needed to hear once again. “Knockin on Heaven’s Door” is a timeless song that spoke to me when I was young. I would play the 45 on my turn table over and over, listening to every word while thinking of my place in time and the future. Bob Dylan never intended to be in the public eye for notority or reward. It is my belief he merely wanted to be heard for what he sang; moreover for listeners to be moved to understanding his lyrics and meaning. I have felt this connection since I was a young girl and I remain loyal to the passion he exudes in every word. “Times, they are a Changin” was a monumental foreboding then and now. Yet, there are those that failed to see it then or now. There can only be one Bob Dylan. God blessed him with the gift of verse, writing, song and insight to the response of man kind. L.
